Lieve Dehaese

Lieve is specialized in commercial law, company law, contract law, intellectual property law, environmental law and regional/urban planning law.
Lieve has more than 35 years of experience as a practicing lawyer. She graduated with a master’s degree in law from KU Leuven University in 1977 and followed post-graduate training in commercial law and company law at the KU Brussels University.
She also followed a course for mediators in civil and commercial law and is a registered mediator in both areas.
Lieve worked as a lawyer at the bar of Ghent from 1977 to 1980, being member of the law firm of Professor Willy Delva.
In 1980, she started at the Bar of Hasselt and founded our law firm.
Lieve has been an insolvency administrator for bankruptcies at the Hasselt commercial court for some considerable time. She is frequently appointed by the Court of Commerce as company liquidator.
Lieve also gives lectures on subjects related to company law and bankruptcy law and used to teach civil law, commercial law and intellectual property law at the Provincial High School Limburg.
From 2008 until 2012, Lieve was a member of the Belgian High Council of Justice where she was member of the committee responsible for the nomination of judges in Belgium.
In her spare time, Lieve enjoys gardening, playing golf, tennis and walking in the Alps.
