Johan is specialized in liability law, medical law and insurance law; he advises both insurance companies and insured persons in, for example, the building and medical sectors or in case of traffic, work or fire accidents.
In particular, he advises private individuals, municipal authorities, public administrations, building contractors, project developers, building engineers and architects, technical experts and insurance companies in the field of construction law. Johan leads an experienced team of lawyers, technical and financial experts and has more than 30 years of work experience.
Johan graduated as a master in law from KU Leuven University in 1984 and has been a lawyer at the Bar of Hasselt since then.
Johan has been working as an insolvency administrator in bankruptcies at the Hasselt commercial court and as a company liquidator.
Johan also gives lectures at conferences and is author of publications in the fields of insurance law, liability law and building law. He is a member of the editorial team of “Limburgs Rechtsleven”, a magazine for lawyers.
In the non-profit sector, Johan is president of the Board of Directors of KIDS, an institute for hearing-impaired persons. In his free time, Johan likes to discover new places with his speed pedelec.
